Tanpopo (タンポポ dandelion) was a J-Pop group founded in 1998 and the first subgroup of Morning Musume. The original members were: Kaori Iida, Aya Ishiguro, and Mari Yaguchi. The songs were considered more mature than most Morning Musume songs. In 1998, they recorded Last Kiss which was used as the ending theme for the Orphen anime. After Aya Ishiguro left the group in 1999 the two remaining members continued to sing and perform Tanpopo's song. In 2000, Ai Kago and Rika Ishikawa from the fourth generation of Morning Musume were added to Tanpopo. On July 31st, 2002, it was announced that Tanpopo was going to be completely reformed. Rika Ishikawa became the group's new leader and fifth generation Morning Musume members Asami Konno, and Risa Niigaki were added. Melon Kinen-Bi member Ayumi Shibata was also added. The third generation of Tanpopo released only one single. Currently the group is on indefinite hiatus.
